Venues & Cocktails for your Italian Wedding

J&K La Dolce Vita wedding celebration in Montepulciano

Finding Your Perfect Venue

When US couple Jay & Kylie began planning their wedding, they didn't need to look far for inspiration. Having fallen deeply in love with Borgo San Vincenzo during a previous vacation, the decision to return for their special day came naturally. This charming Tuscan retreat offers everything romantic couples seek: tranquility, exceptional cuisine, world-class wines, and those iconic rolling landscapes that have captivated visitors for centuries.

For couples seeking an authentic Italian wedding experience, Tuscany's borgos (small villages or hamlets) provide the perfect setting. These historic properties, often dating back centuries, combine rustic charm with refined elegance, creating an atmosphere that simply cannot be replicated elsewhere.

La Dolce Vita: Crafting Your Reception Experience

Jay & Kylie's celebration embodied the essence of Italian hospitality. Their day unfolded in true "la dolce vita" style, beginning with a heartfelt ceremony featuring personal readings and vows exchanged against the backdrop of ancient stone and cypress trees.

Following Italian tradition, they incorporated an extended Aperitivo hour—the Italian answer to cocktail hour—which allowed guests to mingle while sampling local delicacies prepared by the borgo's acclaimed restaurant.

Tuscan Cocktail Inspirations

While Tuscany is renowned for its wines, incorporating signature cocktails that reflect the region's flavors creates an additional layer of authenticity. Why not consider these Tuscan-inspired options:

  • Tuscan Spritz: A twist on the classic Aperol Spritz using local blood orange juice, prosecco, and a splash of Campari, garnished with fresh rosemary.

  • Limoncello Fizz: House-made limoncello (or locally sourced), prosecco, and a splash of soda water, garnished with a lemon twist and thyme sprig.

  • Cynar Negroni: A sophisticated variation using the artichoke-based amaro Cynar, local gin, and sweet vermouth, garnished with an orange peel.

  • Vin Santo Sour: Incorporating Tuscany's famous dessert wine with lemon juice, egg white, and a touch of honey, for an elegant pre-dinner cocktail.

Don't forget to include locally produced still and sparkling waters, as well as non-alcoholic options featuring seasonal fruits and herbs like basil, rosemary, and citrus.

Design Elements: Colors and Florals

Jay & Kylie's wedding featured a thoughtfully curated color palette that reflected Tuscany's natural beauty. Their scheme incorporated delicate yet vibrant colors with coral and amber accents, beautifully paired with pastel greens and pistachio tones.

When it comes to the floral arrangements, together with the couple we choose:

  • Seasonal wildflowers arranged from our professional florists

  • Grapes, quinces and pears (don’t forget to add some fruits to your arrangements, you won’t regret it!)

  • White glazed terra cotta vases used during the ceremony

  • Loose, natural arrangements to give a natural and laid-back feel to the dining tables.
